Lampworking was first introduced to me while I was living in Durango, Colorado. There the Animas River flows majestically through the little southwest rocky town; the Native Americans named it the Animas because it means, "the river of lost souls". This is true for most people that I have met there, and I was no exception. I was searching for something, and at the time I had no idea that Durango was going to change the course of my life. One bright summer morning in 96 I met a gaffer who was passing through town. He was blowing glass outside of a full size school bus. He was making little paperweights, some pendants, and lots of small pipes. From the first glance of the hot glowing glass, I was in love. My initial thought was "I can do that!" With full confidence I went home and ordered a glass blowing starter kit. I have been blowing glass ever since.
I now reside and work in Chicago, Illinois. The windy city is the place where I lay my hat. I work in the West Loop at Landmark Arts Gallery, sharing the upstairs studio with a few great artist and friends.
After a few years of learning the properties of glass, I am finally able to foreshadow the direction of my art. I am strongly leaning into my ancestral roots, which lie in Israel. Thus, I am primarily making Judaic art pieces.
